My work features visual narratives, usually featuring a figure within a landscape setting.
I am influenced by my surroundings in rural Shropshire and have always been attracted to ancient landscape, reflecting the hand of man, particularly the flowing drift of wind swept grasses on the baked sculpted forms of banks and ditches. I also work with harvest - The Cornucopia of landscape.
The connecting themes which inspire and inform my work are symbolic associations that hint at a more personal theme of love, fragility, fear and loss.
‘Art is nothing but the expression of our dream; the more we surrender to it, the closer we get to the inner truth of things, our dream life, the true life that scorns questions and does not see them.’ Franz Marc
